Snacktivity

We’ve been approached with regards to a study to encouraging people to become more physically active through short 3-5 minute bouts of movement or ‘snacks of activity’.

We are looking for people to deliver the study who have one to one contact with patients who are over 18 and relatively inactive (do less than 180 minutes of exercise per week). The participants will be randomised into either usual care (leaflet given, two minute conversation) or the Snacktivity intervention 5 minute conversation introducing the idea. Those in the Snacktivity intervention will be given a Fitbit to wear, that they will get to keep at the end of the 12 month intervention. Both groups will take part in a survey at 3 months and 12 months and receive a £20 voucher for each survey completed.

Snacktivity is testing a new approach aimed at helping people to become more physically active and to reduce the amount of time spent sitting each day.

We are inviting people from across different settings and communities to take part in a study that is testing a new approach to helping people become more physically active called Snacktivity™. This approach encourages people to do short ‘snacks’ of physical activity throughout the day to improve their health and well-being.

Before you decide if you would like to take part, please read the information sheet–it explains why the research is being done and what it means for you if you take part. We have also created a short video to help explain the study which you can watch below.
