Canterbury city centre is full of history, with its narrow cobbled lanes and beautiful architecture. A stroll around the city centre can take in an array of interesting sites, including the city walls, a reminder of Canterbury’s heritage as a site of historical significance dating back to Roman times.
This Active 10 walking route is 1 mile long in its entirety, consisting of between one and two complete Active 10s if you walk the whole route. However, feel free to walk as little or as much of the route as you feel able to.
From the pedestrianised St. George’s Street shopping precinct, head towards the St. George’s Roundabout, and turn right onto St. George’s Terrace, walking along the city walls. Follow the city walls across Watling Street and into Dane John Gardens. Walk past the mound, and then turn right and walk back through the park, re-joining the city walls and heading back to the St. George’s Street starting point.
